PSU students from any major who are taking courses in the art department are invited to submit work to be juried for this annual show. Jurors are professionals from the fields of art education, graphic design, and studio art. This exhibition provides the opportunity to celebrate the achievements of PSU students and invites them to become cultural emissaries as exhibiting artists.

During their senior year, Plymouth State University Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) candidates develop a body of work through which they explore a range of themes, styles, and techniques. An art faculty committee guides the artistic process of each student. The annual BFA senior thesis show is the capstone experience for fine art majors in studio art and graphic design.

Making a successful transition into a university community is a challenge. New expectations, a new environment, and new people, make the first few weeks exciting and sometimes confusing. The new student orientation program is designed to help students and their families learn more about these expectations and explorations.

Beginning September 4th, viewing hours are Monday - Friday, 8a.m. to 6p.m.; weekends noon to 6p.m. and during performances; closed holidays. This exhibition is free and open to the public.

A multi-faceted seminar intended to help participants improve upon the musical, educational and administrative skills involved with public school instrumental music. Emphasis will be placed on new methodologies and material. The staff of guest speakers will include active educators from throughout New England as well as featured speakers whose contributions to music education have gained national or international attention.

Frost Commons, Robert Frost House

pwp.gifNew Hampshire’s site of The National Writing Project, the Plymouth Writing Project, will host five authors in its annual summer institute. Visiting authors will read from their works, answer questions about their writing, the publishing process and lead the participants in writing exercises that can be transferred to the classroom.

Janna Malamud Smith, a writer and psychotherapist, is the author of three books, Private Matters (1997), A Potent Spell (2003), and My Father is a Book: A Memoir of Bernard Malamud (2006). Her articles and essays have appeared nationally and internationally in newspapers, magazines and literary journals including The New York Times, The International Herald Tribune, The Christian Science Monitor, Family Circle and The Threepenny Review.
