Piano MonsterThe Senior Piano Monster Festival is open to students currently taking piano lessons and completing grades 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12. Pianists are given the opportunity to perform in multi-piano ensembles under a conductor and to experience the excitement of teamwork.

The final concert of the four-day Piano Monster Festival will be July 1 at 4:00 p.m. in the Hanaway Theatre, Silver Center for the Arts. Tickets are $7 for non-participants. A student recital will be held June 30 at 8:15 p.m. and is open to parents, teachers and friends at no charge.

Frost Commons, Robert Frost House

pwp.gifNew Hampshire’s site of The National Writing Project, the Plymouth Writing Project, will host five authors in its annual summer institute. Visiting authors will read from their works, answer questions about their writing, the publishing process and lead the participants in writing exercises that can be transferred to the classroom.

Carolyn Coman is the author of the memoir Tell Me Everything, What Jamie Saw, Many Stones, Bee and Jacky and the The Big House. What Jamie Saw received a 1996 John Newberry Honor Award from the American Library Association and was also named a National Book Award Finalist. Her young adult novel, Many Stones, was also nominated for a National Book Award. Her latest book, Sneaking Suspicions is due out this fall.

The annual Faculty Exhibition showcases faculty as well as productive, successful artists, and provides a vital critical and creative conversation between the art department faculty and the greater PSU community. The exhibition celebrates and honors faculty as active artists and cultural agents while inviting an ongoing dialogue with artists, their works of art and each viewer.

Beginning September 4th, viewing hours are Monday – Friday, 8a.m. to 6p.m.; weekends noon to 6p.m. and during performances; closed holidays. This exhibition is free and open to the public.

Join us for our annual alumni outing with the Fishercats!

This year we have use of the party deck and the adjoining suite for our meal and throughout the game. The game begins at 7 p.m., but food will be served beginning at 6:30 p.m. for 90 minutes. Hamburgers, hot dogs, italian sausage with peppers and onions, ribs, Boston baked beans, garden salad, cookies, watermelon, iced tea and punch will be served. Plan on staying for the whole game as there will be an Atlas fireworks show at the end of the night.

Nathan Graziano teaches English at Pembroke Academy and is the author of a collection of fiction, Frostbite. His work has been nominated for three Pushcart Prizes, while his latest volume of poetry is titled Honey, I’m Home. His new collection, Teaching Metaphors was published in June.

A multi-faceted seminar intended to help participants improve upon the musical, educational and administrative skills involved with public school instrumental music. Emphasis will be placed on new methodologies and material. The staff of guest speakers will include active educators from throughout New England as well as featured speakers whose contributions to music education have gained national or international attention.
