The life of abolitionist Nathaniel P. Rogers (1794-1846), a Plymouth Native, will be commemorated at PSU’s Silver Center for the Arts, which occupies the spot where his home once stood. Retired NH Supreme Court Justice William Batchelder will provide a brief history of Rogers’ life, while other speakers will include PSU President Sara Jayne Steen and PSU History Club President Sarah Vendt. This event is part of PSU’s observation of Black History Month. Visit the PSU news archive for more details about this event.

PSU’s celebration of Black History Month continues tomorrow with Unearthing the Underground Railroad, a discussion with Harvard scholar Dr. Timothy Patrick McCarthy.

Dr. Timothy Patrick McCarthy, Harvard scholar, will be presenting a lecture, “Unearthing the Underground Railroad,” at Smith Recital Hall, Silver Center for the Arts, as part of the University’s observation of Black History Month and its celebration of the life of Nathaniel P. Rogers, a Plymouth abolitionist whose home once stood on the site of the Silver Center.   Admission is free, but capacity is limited.  Call 535-ARTS to reserve a seat.
