Penelope Barrett, a printmaker from Vermont, documents the consequences of war as displayed in the daily news, in the tradition of Goya, Daumier, and Posada. Her depictions of military brutality leave no doubt about her view of the deceit of political leaders. In addition, Bennett’s etchings on industrial themes expresses the isolation that the individual experiences in today’s industrialized world. The images of naked flesh against steel pipes carries an implicit message of the toxicity to humankind in today’s industrialized society.

During their senior year, Plymouth State University Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) candidates develop a body of work through which they explore a range of themes, styles, and techniques. An art faculty committee guides the artistic process of each student. The annual BFA senior thesis show is the capstone experience for fine art majors in studio art and graphic design.
