This summer institute is designed for teachers who would like to gain a thorough background in the teaching of writing with practical applications they can use in their classrooms. Participants write, respond to other’s writing, and reflect on how this experience informs their thinking about their teaching.

William Lychack is the author of a novel, The Wasp Eater, and a forthcoming collection of stories, The Architect of Flowers, both published by Houghton Mifflin. He is currently the Writer-in-Residence at Phillips Academy and a member of the MFA faculty at Lesley University.

Mary E. Finger’s first novel for children, Charlotte Bakeman Has Her Say, was published in 2007 by Little Pear Press. Finger grew up in the secure surroundings of small-town New Hampshire during the years of the Depression and the advent of World War II.

The 5:30 club at the Harpoon Brewery in Boston is a 90 minute beer tasting along with an in-depth information guide about Harpoon beers presented by a knowledgeable staff. PSU alumnus Frankie Beaulieu from Metro Catering will be providing the catering for this event.
