Room 001, Boyd Science Center

Join Chris Leggett, the founder of Statistics and Economics Consulting in Gilford, who will share methods of estimating participation in outdoor recreation-a vital component to designing parks and allocating funds for conservation projects. Leggett will discuss the challenges faced in creating estimates in park attendance when visitors don’t pass through entry gates or pay entry fees. He will also share an overview of methods for quantifying outdoor recreation, describe the advantages and disadvantages of these methods, and offer examples of actual data collection efforts.

The 2008-2009 lecture series covers a wide range of topics from a diverse group of speakers. Topics will include environmental economics, climate change, acid rain, and forensic chemistry. Please contact Steve Kahl for more information (535-3154). This event is sponsored by the Environmental Science & Policy Department and the Center for the Environment.
