PSU Athletics will kick off the 2008 athletic season by welcoming faculty and staff members back to campus and supporting the NH Food Bank. Bring a non-perishable food item and Join the PSU Panthers for a great way to spend the day!

Faculty/Staff Day Highlights

  • Show your ID at the concession stand and receive a free popcorn compliments of Panther Athletics.
  • Entertainment featuring Toe Drag, last years winner of the “Battle of the Bands”.
  • Support the NH Food Bank. The Student Athlete Advisory Council will collect non-perishable food items throughout the day.
  • Support the Panther Football team as they battle in-state rival Saint Anselm College (1p.m.).
  • Support the PSU Women’s Tennis team as they take on the University of Southern Maine (2p.m.).

Join Chris Leggett, the founder of Statistics and Economics Consulting in Gilford, who will share methods of estimating participation in outdoor recreation-a vital component to designing parks and allocating funds for conservation projects. Leggett will discuss the challenges faced in creating estimates in park attendance when visitors don’t pass through entry gates or pay entry fees. He will also share an overview of methods for quantifying outdoor recreation, describe the advantages and disadvantages of these methods, and offer examples of actual data collection efforts.

The 2008-2009 lecture series covers a wide range of topics from a diverse group of speakers. Topics will include environmental economics, climate change, acid rain, and forensic chemistry.
