Opening Event: Wednesday, September 17, 4-6 p.m. Printmakers from New Hampshire, Maine, and Vermont present works in collaboration with the Art of Democracy, which is a national coalition of political art exhibitions all taking place in the Fall of 2008 on the State of the American Political Scene. Silver Center for the Arts

Opening Reception: October 15, 4-6 p.m. The Brown Company Photographic Collection documents the history of the Brown Company paper mill of Berlin, NH from the late 19th century through the mid-1960s. Much of the collection chronicles the social, cultural, and recreational lives of the workers, their families, and the place of these people in the life of the city of Berlin.

Major JacksonMajor Jackson is the author of two collections of poetry, Hoops, a finalist for the NAACP Image Award and Leaving Saturn, winner of the 2000 Cave Canem Poetry Prize and a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Awards. He is a recipient of a Whiting Writers’ Award, been honored by the Pew Fellowship in the Arts and by the Witter-Bynner Foundation in conjunction with the Library of Congress. He is an associate professor of English at University of Vermont and a faculty member of the Bennington Writing Seminars.
