Karl Drerup Art Gallery

Opening Reception: October 22, 4-6 p.m. Perhaps every work of art is somehow a self portrait— an experience of externalizing an internal story that seeks to be understood in the light of consciousness, first by its creator and second by a wider audience. Within the genres of photography, video, and new media, this exhibition celebrates a very particular journey where the uncharted territory is an exploration of the artist’s own body, mind, and spirit. Curated by Chehalis Hegner, Adjunct Faculty.

This research project is a cooperative effort between C-10 Research and Education Foundation and the Judd Gregg Meteorology Institute to evaluate the data recorded by C-10’s Citizens Radiological Monitoring Network. The evaluation includes rigorous scientific analysis, identification of significant trends, quantifying the effect of the tides on near-shore radiological measurements, the identification of radiological “hot spots”, and recommendations for positioning sensor equipment. Sam Miller, assistant professor of meteorology, will lead the discussion of the research findings and trends.

The 2008-2009 Boyd Science Colloquium Lecture Series covers a wide range of topics from a diverse group of speakers. Topics will include environmental economics, climate change, acid rain, and forensic chemistry. Please contact Steve Kahl for more information (535-3154). This event is sponsored by the Environmental Science & Policy Department and the Center for the Environment.
