Karl Drerup Art Gallery

Opening Reception: October 22, 4-6 p.m. Perhaps every work of art is somehow a self portrait— an experience of externalizing an internal story that seeks to be understood in the light of consciousness, first by its creator and second by a wider audience. Within the genres of photography, video, and new media, this exhibition celebrates a very particular journey where the uncharted territory is an exploration of the artist’s own body, mind, and spirit. Curated by Chehalis Hegner, Adjunct Faculty.

Join this discussion about the development of fiber art.  American and Polish artists were major players in the development of modern art and fiber art in particular.  The differences between the two cultural contexts enhanced the vitality and diversity of the movements.  By examining the emergence of fiber arts in both cultures, we gain a broader understanding of how art, craft, and design can create new fields and styles.
