Lamson Library Print Series

Opening Event: Wednesday, September 17, 4-6 p.m. Printmakers from New Hampshire, Maine, and Vermont present works in collaboration with the Art of Democracy, which is a national coalition of political art exhibitions all taking place in the Fall of 2008 on the State of the American Political Scene. National exhibits and images may be viewed at: www.artofdemocracy.org and selected works from this exhibit are presented at: on the Lamson Library Web site.

Silver Center for the Arts

Opening Reception: October 15, 4-6 p.m. The Brown Company Photographic Collection documents the history of the Brown Company paper mill of Berlin, NH from the late 19th century through the mid-1960s. Much of the collection chronicles the social, cultural, and recreational lives of the workers, their families, and the place of these people in the life of the city of Berlin.

Karl Drerup Art Gallery

Opening Reception: October 22, 4-6 p.m. Perhaps every work of art is somehow a self portrait— an experience of externalizing an internal story that seeks to be understood in the light of consciousness, first by its creator and second by a wider audience. Within the genres of photography, video, and new media, this exhibition celebrates a very particular journey where the uncharted territory is an exploration of the artist’s own body, mind, and spirit. Curated by Chehalis Hegner, Adjunct Faculty.

Visit Language Classes: The Department of Languages and Linguistics invites you to sit in on language courses (Arabic, American Sign Language, Chinese, French, German, Latin, and Spanish). Guides to language classes will be posted on the 2nd floor of Hyde Hall.

Student Photo Contest: Submit your favorite photo from overseas by November 15 to the Bagley Center for your chance to win prizes valued at $50. Photos will be displayed in the HUB. Send photos to bagley@plymouth.edu. Don’t forget to vote for your favorite student photo in the HUB Diversity Window.

Empty Bowls Fundraiser

Plymouth Congregational Church

Bowls are handmade by PSU art students and faculty and soups are donated by area restaurants. Special Guest: Miss New Hampshire 2008, PSU alumna Natalie Shaw, will sing and will speak about her work on hunger and homelessness issues. For more information, contact Stephanie Aubert or the Community Service Center.  Cost: $10, $7 for students. Proceeds will benefit the NH Food Bank, Thanksgiving Basket Project, and Whole Village.
