Silver Center for the Arts

Opening Reception February 8, 4-6 p. m. The annual Friends of the Arts juried exhibition honors imaginative and skillful work by students in secondary schools in central and northern New Hampshire. The exhibition includes artists from public and private high schools, providing an opportunity for students and their teachers to explore and observe a wide range of media, processes, themes, and subject interpretations. 2nd Floor Ceramics Display, Draper & Maynard Building

Susan Tucker exhibits her collection of functional and non-functional hand-built boxes.  These works, created by Susan over a period of several years, explore the interplay between positive and negative shapes.  All are encouraged to visit the D&M Building during business hours (between 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Monday through Friday) to experience this exhibition.  Pieces are available for purchase.  Please contact Susan Tucker with questions or for more information (535-2544).

Alumni Green

Students will be working on Snow Sculptures all week long as they compete for 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place in the Winter Carnival Snow Sculpture Contest. Teams will begin building their snow sculptures at 8 a.m. on Monday, February 9.  Judging takes place on Alumni Green at 5 p.m.  Winter Carnival is sponsored by PACE.

Why Freeze When You Can Chill?

Celebrate Winter Carnival all week long with the banner competition, “Battle of the Student Orgs”, Student Senate Ski Day, and the Snow Sculpture Contest.  New events this year include Trivia Night, Coin War, Food Drive Competition, and much more entertainment.

Cannon Mountain

The Student Senate hosts ski day , this year in collaboration with Cannon Mountain, as part of Winter Carnival 2009.  Free transportation leaves the HUB at 8 a.m. and will return to campus at 4:30 p.m.  Cannon Mountain has planned great events such as the 3-person relay and a Big Air competition to help make the day even more fun.  A BBQ lunch will be offered for $9 per person.

Heritage Room, Samuel Read Hall Hall

Many argue that the most powerful person in the criminal justice system is the Judge. The Criminal Justice Department will host this unique event which will explore this perspective with Judges from the Federal and State Court System.  Keynote speaker Steven McAullife, Chief of the Federal District Court will be joined by Judges from the NH District, Superior and Supreme Court.
