The 2nd District Juried High School Art Competition is an annual event sponsored by Congressman Paul Hodes. Students from all high schools in the 2nd District are invited to submit works for this show.  The winners of the show will have their work exhibited as part of a national exhibit in Washington DC.

Last year, the PSU Art Department hosted this event for the first time. We are honored to be hosting the event again this year. The works will be judged by three jurors from our faculty.

Congressman Hodes is planning to speak at the awards ceremony and we are hoping that President Steen will be available to speak. Local dignitaries will also be invited by Congressman Hodes Office.

The event is scheduled for Sunday, April 19, beginning around 3 p.m., and continuing into the evening. It will take place on the lawn and amphitheater area behind Silver Center for the Arts.

Audio for the bands will be powered by solar power from Sunweavers. In addition, the annual Environmental Fair, formerly held on campus during a weekday, will be combined with Earth Jam 2009 on Sunday.

From approximately 3 – 6 p.m., a number of NH environmental and related organizations will have tables and displays about their work. Information on PSU’s environmental initiatives will be available, and a vehicle powered by used veggie-oil will be on display.
