PSU will host “A Conversation with Amory Lovins.” Lovins will address returning upper level students, faculty, and staff with a Q and A session.
Time magazine named him one of 2009’s 100 most influential people in the world. The Wall Street Journal named him one of 39 people worldwide “most likely to change the course of business in the ’90s.” And Newsweek magazine called him “one of the Western world’s most influential energy thinkers.”
Lovins is Chairman and Chief Scientist of the Rocky Mountain Institute, a MacArthur Fellowship recipient (1993), and author and co-author of many books on energy efficiency, renewable energy, resources, climate, security, business, and other topics.
Lovins’ has an unparalleled record of advocating and planning the efficient use of diverse and renewable energy sources, such as solar, wind, biofuels, and geothermal. He has led the redesign of over $30 billion worth of facilities in 29 sectors for radical energy and resource efficiency. He has briefed 20 heads of state, held several visiting academic chairs (most recently as 2007 MAP/Ming Professor in Stanford University’s School of Engineering), written 29 books and hundreds of papers, advised the U.S. Departments of Energy and Defense, and consulted for scores of industries and governments worldwide.
The Rocky Mountain Institute, is a world renowned organization whose goal is to drive the efficient and restorative use of resources. RMI’s style is nonadversarial and transideological, emphasizing integrative design, advanced technologies, and mindful markets.
