For over two decades, John Gorka’s keen ear has picked up the stories of people along his path, folding them into poetry and song. His near cult-like following never fails to fill concerts where his versatility on guitar and piano keeps the audience in his spell. While his somewhat shy, self-effacing stage presence rightfully focuses on his songs, he’s never short of a sly comment or clever joke. Rolling Stone has called him “the preeminent male singer-songwriter of the New Folk Movement” and the likes of Mary Chapin Carpenter, Mary Black, and Maura O’Connell have covered his songs. He also shared tours with many of his notable friends—Nanci Griffith, Shawn Colvin, Mary Chapin Carpenter, and Lucy Kaplansky among them. He has been featured on Austin City Limits, Mountain Stage, and eTown, has 11 studio albums, and has collaborated on countless compilations.
