PSU events to showcase student research

Toxins, wildlife, agriculture, music, dance and literature will all be on display this weekend at two special events celebrating research at Plymouth State University.

A Research Symposium on Friday afternoon (April 27) and a Saturday morning (April 28) Student Showcase of Excellence feature student projects from a variety of disciplines from science to the arts to the humanities. Both events are free and open to the public and are held in the University’s Physical Education Center on Holderness Road.

Friday’s Research Symposium is offered in connection with the National Institute for Health’s IDeA Network of Biomedical Research Excellence (INBRE) grant to increase opportunities for faculty and student research. Projects will be displayed and student researchers will present their work from 4:30 pm until 7:30 p.m. These projects range from biology and chemistry research to examinations of various environmental impacts.

Saturday’s Student Showcase of Excellence includes projects representation a range of academic disciplines and demonstrates outstanding student scholarship. Student representing more than 16 academic departments will display and demonstrate original research in the sciences, arts and humanities. In addition to poster and table displays, there will be original music and dance performances. Presentations begin at 9:00 am and the event continues until noon. This event is also free and open to the public.
