I have studied the issue of how race operates a lens which disotrs what we see. Most analysts work form the model that racism is a problem of "hate" or "unconscious bias" within the individual. I analogize the problem of race as a myth deeply embedded in our culture. We relate to this concept like a person looking through a distorting glass, except we don't realize the distorting glass is there. I can show you in cases like the "jogger trial" how this cognitive theory helps to explain how racism can operate in the public space despite our claims of being post-racial. I also show how racial images in the cultural imaginary-Hollywood- drive racial projects like the drug war far more than institutional policies.

I hope so,I'll check your blog for news! Having come from SF in the era of high femme/butch community,(which makes me think of your BDSM /art link in your talk) it was a fabirc of subversive thought and also a punk rock freedom that permeated so many facets of the culture.Even in dyke culture,the culture was heavily shadowed by AIDS, just a very powerful time for fearlessness and anger and living for the moment.I am so incredibly grateful to have lived through that era and now see so many amazing people I knew then,accomplishing so many things.A queer friend and I were discussing this element of culture,I look forward to any thoughts you have to share.

I attended the Wild Swan on Wednesday evening to watch my grandson play the role of a young prince
I had no idea it was going to be such a wonderful play
I brought a co-worker with me and she also was astonished at the great job all of the actresses and actors had accomplished in just a few weeks of rehearsals
It was the first time we had attended a play that put a smile on your face when it started and stayed on your face through out the entire play
It could not have been better in any way shape or matter in our eyes

I'm glad to see that " Miss Smith" is still remembered. I along with three other class mates took over thirty hours of credit from her back in the late 50's, as we were the only math majors of the class of 60. She was an amazing women who loved her math and teaching.

Hello, I'm the girls basketball coach at the Warren Village school and I have a terrific bunch of girls who absolutely love the game of basketball, but some of them have never even seen a game on tv. I would like to give them an opportunity to see the Women's basketball team in action as they are having a great season so far. I've been trying to find tickets to a home game and can't seem to find any. Are they for sale on the internet? How much? Is it possible my girls could meet the team before a game? I want them to experience life outside of Warren. It's a very small town and many families are on the low income side. I don't have much to offer these kids but my undivided attention and dedication to them learning teamwork, life lessons and the fine sport of Basketball. Saturday is jam-packed with great events, and by perusing the schedule I think you'll be able to decide whether you want to arrive on Friday afternoon/evening or Saturday morning.

From the website, you'll be able to link to our on-line registration. It's free to register to attend, though some events and activities (Like the Family Dinner & Entertainment on Saturday evening) do require advance ticket purchases.

Was a delightful event.

As the Mother of the Monarch, Kelley Osborne, I took many photos and will posting them on the website when my daughter comes home for Mother's Day.
